The war is over!! I knew you'd be glad to hear that. And by over I mean you can continue to drink the spoils, so to speak.
Well of course I'm talking about the Brew Wars that happened at Thomas Creek Brewery,
with the final skirmish happening yesterday, voting for the favorite by
an eager and curious public.
Zach Newton, Brett Terrapin, Josh Caprell
& Adam W teamed up in pairs to create something unique from the
Trifecta base beer: Super Dank and Farmhouse DIPA. I tried both, each was worthy of winning and of serious drinking, and now the victor can be revealed:
Super Dank won by two votes! An honest election with serious candidates
and a minimum of ballot stuffing. So, they are now on tap for you to
judge for yourself. Actually, there are no losers here, just two new
fine beers to enjoy. Some pics from the event, including the brewers
demonstrating the professionalism and poise that accompanied the
challenge.
Cheers to all!!

Quest Brewing's 3rd Anniversary Bash Goes On, Despite Heat!
So, to summarize, despite the near-record setting temps yesterday, fun and frolic was not be be deterred at Quest Brewing Company's
3rd Anniv. bash and so the party went on. Music, dogs, food, kids and
dads with hula hoops (Mike Okupinski comes to mind), Painter-Tots and of
course, new beers to try. Lucky you if you chose to try the Nitro
Pepper Pale cause it was a delight to drink. Hope that stays around.
Conveniently posted near the inside bar, a schedule of releases throughout
the day meant one had to work hard, doing research of course, to keep
up. Alas, schedule obligations kept from staying to the end, but I'm
hoping that tomorrow's Yoga class will be rewarded with some of the same
beers on tap. Congrats again to Don, Andrew and the entire Quest crew
for such a successful (and award winning) three years.

Cheers to all and best wishes for another successful three years!!

Fall for Greenville Fun As Ever
Recovering from a soggy Saturday and a sunny Sunday at Fall for Greenville. As usual, great music and outstanding choices for craft beer. Our locals were well represented with lines forming (on Sunday anyway) at each. Favorite of the event, for me and friends who came with us, turned out to be Foothills' India Pale Lager, although Trifecta by Thomas Creek was a close second. Weird food of the event, tho it tasted good but deadly, was the Fried Oreos. Yep, I tried one. Nope, did not have a second. Used some Holy City's Plough Mud Stout to erase the taste. Congrats to all the organizers, breweries and volunteers who made this year's event as fun as ever. Cheers.
Saturday was wet but we stayed for Honey and the Hotrods. |
Main in the rain, Sunday. |
Thomas Creek and Quest were there, wet with everyone else. Sunday was sunny! |
Sunny Sunday on Main. Got very crowded with food-loving folks. |
Our favorite beer of the day was the India Pale Lager from our friends from Winston-Salem, NC. |
Wasted Wine as a big crowd pleaser. Note the Harmonium on the table. Don't see that often. |
